Hurray - our new book is out!
Alice Schmidt and Claudia Winkler explore how looking at the bigger picture first before zooming in on climate action, circularity and social transformation can improve health, wealth and wellbeing for all.
The coronavirus crisis has drawn attention to the complexity and importance of the challenges humanity is facing. We’ve reached a turning point, and the stakes are high. Will we succeed in halting climate change and biodiversity loss, and in finally securing health, wealth and wellbeing for all? Or will we continue to dig our collective grave by producing and consuming more and more goods while wasting and polluting as if there were no tomorrow? |
Great news - Alice was nominated as "sustainability leader of the year"!

Alice Schmidt is a policy advisor, business consultant, author and speaker working at the intersection of social, environmental and economic issues around the globe. With 25+ years of experience working in 30 countries with over 70 organisations she is able to see the bigger picture and quickly understand what different stakeholders need. At the same time, she has an eye for detail and always look for tailor-made solutions that make sense in a given context.
Above all, Alice is concerned about societal progress and sustainable development that creates opportunities across the social, ecological and economic spheres. She wants to help ensure that stakeholders across the globe work together in ways that prioritise social and environmental goals as much as economic objectives. To rephrase Lord Baden Powell, founder of the Scout Movement, she aims to leave the world a bit better than she found it.
Alice enjoys working with businesses, governments, international organisations and civil society on complex issues and challenging projects that make a positive impact across the socio-economic and environmental domains. Her consulting offer ranges from giving key notes and running training workshops to conducting assessments, evaluating projects, developing strategies and writing publications.
In addition to directing her consulting firm, Alice Schmidt is an MIT Climate Ambassador. She also chairs the Board of the not-for-profit arm of Berlin-based research and consulting firm Endeva, is a member of the International Council of Austria's Circular Economy Forum, acts as a member of climate & sustainability juries and is a senior university lecturer for BA, MBA and professional Master's students on Sustainable Business and Management for the Future at Vienna University of Economics and Business.
